Share the Love of Coffee with Percolate Coffee
Percolate Coffee is a coffee specialty café located in the heart of Bedok. Percolate Coffee is established with a passion for exceptional coffee and fine artisanal goods – sharing the love of coffee with everyone in a warm and welcoming environment.
With window walls and transparent glass door, Percolate Coffee’s shopfront stood out from its neighbours amidst the HDB blocks. Its décor emanates a contemporary rustic charm, spotting a large wooden signage and wooden furnishing against splashes of blue. The interior is strategically partitioned in the centre to provide a seemingly roomier expanse of the cosy space, a unique arrangement providing more seats for its patrons. From wall mounted benches to tables and chairs, patrons can also opt for the window seats or its small alfresco dining area in the cooling late afternoon. Small potted plants decorate each table, further adding a quaint element to its rustic interior. Artisanal goods are also displayed on the wall shelves for patrons looking to bring home a brew or a book. Notably, Percolate Coffee sources their quality coffee beans from Papa Palheta and Nylon Coffee Roasters while their tea leaves are provided by A.Muse Projects.
The waiters on duty were amicable, introducing their bestsellers patiently to me. I had then ordered a main, Prawn Curry Mash upon recommendation, and accompanied with Iced White Coffee. My Iced White Coffee was served in a bottle and the colour was a vibrant shade of orange – similar to a cup of milk tea. The cold bottle of coffee was a piquant and refreshing blend, bitter and nutty, with a strong milky aftertaste. Overall, the coffee was smooth and fragrant, and the beans used were of quality with its rich flavour.
The Prawn Curry Mash was a delightful combination of prawns, dried ebi, cherry tomatoes, Japanese curry, and mashed potatoes. Served in traditional Japanese ware, Prawn Curry Mash was a considerable portion for one. The Japanese curry had a thick texture, and was flavoursome with a mild spiciness but played on a stronger note of saccharinity. The dried ebi (shrimps) and seaweed sprinkles served to add a crunchy punch to the evenly mashed potato. Meanwhile, the potato itself was creamy, absorbing the rich taste of curry well, and provided a palatable relish. Meanwhile, the cherry tomatoes added a nice tone of acidity to the otherwise powering tang of the Japanese curry, with its caustic taste balancing the sweetness in complementation. The prawns served was succulent and veritably fresh with a taste of the ocean. There were small slices of ginger provided for palate cleansing as well, a satisfying way to end a wholesome meal.
Percolate Coffee sells a wide variety of artisanal goods both in the café as well as on its online store. From coffee beans, organic jams, tea leaves, to guidebooks on brewing the perfect cup of coffee, Percolate Coffee is the one stop station for budding coffee connoisseur and enthusiasts. Other than mains, teas, and coffees, the café serves desserts as well. Percolate Coffee is indeed a home away from home, a place for people to get the perfect fix for the day.
